On to Summer

p159789_d_v7_aaLooks like I will be taking a summer class.  I enrolled in LIBR250 – Design and Implementation of Instructional Strategies for Information Professionals.  I got accepted by the instructor today and finished my registration.  This class will fulfil a core competency for learning theory.

I was kinda looking forward to not taking a class but I’d rather not put this class off and have to take two classes for fall.  I might still take another class in fall but it will be a fun class.

On the Waiting List

waiting+listGoing through all my classes and comparing them with the SJSU MLIS Core Competencies, I found that I am lacking the Core Comp K – learning theory.  I did  a little bit in my last class LIBR244 with the final project.  But to be on the safe side, I should take a class that indicates this Core Comp.  Class LIBR250 does this but I am on the waiting list for summer.  We’ll see if I get in for summer or will have to take it for fall.  😦

In a Tailspin Now

tailspinNot sure what to do now.  Got the news that my summer 2015 class in SecondLife has been cancelled. Messes up my plans.  I can still take a summer class, maybe mySQL, or I can wait and take two classes for fall.  If I wait, will the work load be too much?  I’m waiting to hear if the summer SecondLife class will be offered in the fall.

Short Break then on to Summer Session

short-break-routesFinally, Spring 2015 is over.  It seemed like a long semester Maybe I’m just getting a little burned out with school.  I think I did alright for my two classes.  LIBR244- Online Searching taught me to remember to use field parameters when searching databases.  For example, narrowing in on the AUthor or ABstract for a search.  The final project was a training packet I did for a fictional library orientation class.  Had to finish it a little earlier than I anticipated since it was due on  Wednesday not Friday.

The LIBR259 – Preservation Management class started out fun with the book soaking project.  I learned a lot about digital preservation and now I have lots of ideas as to what to do for the library’s archives.  But the class ended with a difficult final project to create a preservation policy for, as I choose, the university’s document archive.  I’d wish I would have chosen a different partner with the speed of the feedback that I received but in all  think it turned out OK.

Two more classes to go until I graduate.  I cannot believe it.
